Michael Gewitz, MD, Chief of Pediatric Cardiology at Children's and Women's Physicians of Westchester, LLP and Physician-in-Chief / Executive Director at Maria Fareri Children' s Hospital was recently appointed Chairperson of the Council on Cardiovascular Disease in the Young by The American Heart Association.
Dr. Gewitz is a leading pediatric cardiologist, and a resident of Chappaqua, New York.
The American Heart Association's Council on Cardiovascular Disease in the Young actively supports the mission to improve the health of children and adults with congenital heart disease and cardiovascular disease acquired during childhood. This is done through research, education, prevention and advocacy.
“I have a long-standing relationship with the American Heart Association, and am very pleased to be appointed as Chairperson of their Council on Cardiovascular Disease in the Young,” said Michael Gewitz, MD.

The Council on Cardiovascular Disease in the Young seeks to accomplish its mission by focusing on children's heart health, including basic science, clinical investigation, epidemiology, clinical practice and education programs.
The Council on Cardiovascular Disease in the Young facilitates the development of criteria for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital cardiovascular malformations and acquired heart disease, such as rheumatic fever, bacterial endocarditis, Kawasaki disease, high blood pressure, and atherosclerosis in children.
