The Herbert Kania Pediatric Group was founded in Warwick, NY in 1974 by Herbert Kania, MD, who is now deceased. The practice offers general pediatric services in it's two locations in Warwick, New York and Hewitt, New Jersey.
The Herbert Kania Pediatric Group continues to benefit from it's two year affiliation with Children's and Women's Physicians of Westchester, LLP, one of the largest pediatric practices in the nation.
According to Jeffrey S. Horowitz, MD, FAAP of The Herbert Kania Pediatric Group, "Our arrangement with CWPW makes perfect sense on many levels, and has proven beneficial for both organizations, and most importantly, for patients and their families. We've been referring our patients to CWPW forever.” Dr. Horowitz joined The Herbert Kania Pediatric Group in 1984.
Aligning with CWPW was a gradual process. “A number of times over the years some of the physicians at CWPW said, ‘You should think about joining us,' Dr. Horowitz recalls. “After considering it a bit, we thought, you know what? That's a good idea.” There were four pediatricians at The Kania practice in November 2008. “It was not a hard decision to join up with CWPW,” he points out. “They're a first-rate organization. To have an opportunity to be affliated with them was a wonderful idea.”
With The Herbert Kania Pediatric Group's emphasis on general pediatric medicine, and CWPW's broad spectrum of subspecialties, the fusion of practices just made sense. “It's a perfect fit,” Dr. Horowitz says. The group's patients are reaping the results on many levels. “Since we've joined with CWPW, our patients get appointments with them much easier than they used to,” he says. The practice refers hundreds of children annually to the specialists at CWPW.

Transitioning to CWPW “Has been relatively seamless for our patients,” Dr. Horowitz notes. “Our office structure has not changed at all. In fact,” he adds, “we didn't want any obvious changes. Health care is alot like politics; it's all local.”
